If a plain gathered skirt is not already part of your wardrobe, scour the consignment and thrift stores for one. Make sure the skirt is in excellent condition without any tears, holes, stains, or missing buttons or broken zippers. If the skirt has its own fabric tie at the waist, that is a bonus.
